23 VIC – Melbourne – 23 February The 2025 International Family Drug Support Day in Victoria was held at Parliament House with 68 attendees. Facilitated by Aiv Puglielli MP, the event featured powerful speeches from politicians, sector leaders, and family members, all calling for increased support for families impacted by substance use and stronger harm reduction policies. Volunteers played a key role in supporting the day’s logistics. Minister Ingrid Stitt attended and spoke, and Tony Trimingham was acknowledged for his legacy. The event concluded with networking, where families and attendees connected with FDS staff to learn more about available programs and explore future collaboration. NSW – Sydney – 22 February The 10th annual International Family Drug Support Day (IFDSD) was held in Sydney on 24 February 2025, marking a significant milestone for Family Drug Support (FDS). The event acknowledged the contributions of founder Tony Trimingham as he steps down as CEO, with speakers reaffirming their commitment to FDS’s model and the continued work for change. Presentations from leaders in health, politics, and community services highlighted the urgent need for reform in drug support and policy. Personal stories, including one from FDS board member Liz Wells, resonated with attendees. With 44 registrations, the event concluded with networking, refreshments, and a celebratory cake cut by John Della Bosca and Sandra Trimingham to mark a decade of FDS achievements.
