20 Family Drug Support expanding reach of support for families … Sunshine Coast QLD Expansion Family Drug Support has expanded its services on the Sunshine Coast, providing vital support for families affected by substance use. The expansion includes the launch of the first "Stepping Stones" workshop in August, offering a structured program to help families cope with a loved one's drug use. Additionally, two new support groups have been established in Nambour and Noosa, creating safe spaces for families to share experiences and gain support. To further assist the community, monthly education sessions Stepping Forward have been held along the Sunshine Coast, aiming to empower families with knowledge and resources to navigate challenging situations. QLD – Far North QLD FDS welcomed a new Support Worker in Far North Queensland, Shammah Ten Hoorn. Shammah along with other members of the Qld team delivered Support the Family Improve the Outcome Workshop on the 14 August at the Rydge’s Cairns to services and families. They also delivered two Stepping Forward modules the following night at the Stratford Community Centre to family members in the area. Both programs had a great turn out and received wonderful feedback. We are excited to announce Family Support Meetings in the Cairns and surrounding areas. The Cairns meetings will be held at the Stratford Community Hall and the Tablelands meetings at the Queensland Country Women’s Association refer to our website for further information.
