We don’t give advice because we couldn’t possibly know what is right or wrong for the people in the situations that are spoken of, we are just there to listen and support and it is a privilege to do so. Nikki: I am a volunteer for FDS going into my third year. I try to do a shift every fortnight … being able to support a loved one going through the hardest parts of their lives is rewarding, and I feel like I am making a difference. Giving people strength to know they are not alone; we are here for them whenever they need it. Some people cannot share things with family or friends due to the stigma or judgement of a person who is dependent. I thank Tony and Sandra and the rest of the team for always giving us the tools to be able to provide support to so many. Being a volunteer for an organisation that truly cares about what happens to the families is inspiring so thank you.
