Can you seriously believe that it is a good thing
when a drug user over-doses??? It is certainly not
Christian, nor Moslem, nor Jewish, nor `modern ethical'
teaching. It is pure, blind hate, I fear.
There are only two valid ways of looking at this pragmatic
and compassionate (discounting your spur of the moment
reaction). Both would decide on balance that a drug
user overdosing is a negative consequence for all,
including society at large. You have clearly not factored
in the costs of someone dying ... who looks after
their children. What about the large proposition of
addicts who turn the corner and become useful members
of society ... 60% of my dependent patients are in
paid work. They nearly all described themselves as
`hopeless junkies' once.
Your views are repugnant and counterproductive. Please
get yourself informed about the facts, even if your
uncharitable opinions don't happen to concur with
the average Australian (we nearly all have a drug
addict or an alcoholic in the family somewhere and
thus have developed much more understanding that your
statements reveal of yourself).
